MANY BELIEVED, ENJOYED & SUPPORTED ME DURING MY TIME ON THIS STATION, I AM GRATEFUL & HONORED TO HAVE YOU BY MY SIDE. Sirius satellite radio cancels DJ Premier’s radio show!

It’s bad news for DJ Premier fans. After weeks of not airing his “Live From HeadQCourterz” show, it’s been announced that XM Sirius satellite radio/Hip Hop Nation have cancelled the legendary DJ’s long running radio slot.

There is no statement yet explaining the reasons, but DJ Premier Blog pointed out that it may be a contractual issue in need of resolve. Eventually Hip Hop Nation deleted the DJ from their site and program list.

The Friday evening program had been running for seven years. This included regular appearances from co-hosts Panchi from veteran duo NYGz and Non Phixion’s DJ Eclipse. Along with this, rappers would make special guests appearances to promote forthcoming tracks & Premier was famed for dropping “exclusives”.

Update: It was announced on the DJ Premier blog on 29th May that “Live from HeadQCourterz” show had been reinstated! From the 1st June DJ Premier’s show is back, every Friday on Sirius XM/Hip Hop Nation. The reason for the absence is still unknown.

The shows are filmed as well & can be viewed on his YouTube channel (link below).

The 45 King’s main claims to fame come from him producing Jay-Z’s “Hard Knock Life” & Eminem’s “Stan”, but his beat making legacy is much larger than this. His numerous beat albums on Tuff City Records are now collectors items, the elements of which (Old soul & funk) heavily influence his shows.

The Legendary Main Ingredient Radio Show started out on a Pirate Radio (Hot FM) in between 1993 – 1994 in Birmingham England, where it quickly became a house name for many hip hop heads within the City.

Following that, DJ Kingstun the founder of the show/movement was introduced to Kashrex (Birmingham Mob) and the opportunity to move to another well know radio station Premier FM (1995). DJ Kingstun then hooked up with Mad Flow (Kaotic) later on and moved the show over to Kriss FM Birmingham wher they both hosted the show up until 1999.

Over the years the Main Ingredient show had many local artists at the time making name for themselves such as Pentalk, MSI & Asylum, Juice Aleem, Moorish Delta & Lost Island etc etc. We also supported concerts featuring Daz Efx, Busta Rhymes, The Fugees, Redman etc, etc.

Grind Ethiks Mixtape Show

Grind Ethiks Mixtape Show

In his own words “VIKTORY BX SUPREME PROMOTER” gives us an all you need to know on his radio show.

The Grind Ethiks Mixtape Show is a radio show that I started in 2005 on http://www.scrubradio.com. My man Turbo put me on to the station. We broadcasted the show from his room in Brooklyn & I came on every Sunday playing straight rap music.

I never played that wack sh-t that you hear on commercial radio. However there was one time when I interviewed some chick & she was playing gospel music & freestyling about Jesus Christ on the air. In my head I was like “oh no” being that Im anti religion & I sure don’t believe in Jesus Christ. But I let it fly, plus I was trying to get some ass anyway! I remembered I had alot of independent artists on my show. I invited artists such as Rugged & Raw, Hasan Saalam, Ques, Nickillus Cage, Porta Klick, Life Long, Respect Tha God, Doc Strange and so on and so on.

Unfortunately Scrub Radio folded & Grind Mixtape Show was homeless for three years.

One day I was at Good Money Studios which is a multi-media studio. The owners was talking to me about selling studio time. Also they was telling me that they had their own radio station but they left it alone for a while. A few days later I propose to them that they should re open the Good Money Radio Station and how it will benefit the whole studio . Therefore the rest is history and I have been broad casting Grind Ethiks Mixtape Show for a while now on http://www.goodmoneyradio.com. Also my show is kind of different now.

I still cater to the underground emcees but I’m now playing r & b artists from both the mainstream and independent world. At the beginning of the show I play a lot of old school r & b & funk music from the 70’s & 80’s & 90’s, then I go into the new school stuff but at the same time I do mix a little old school rap with the new school songs. Another thing that I do differently that I didn’t do to much on Scrub Radio is post up a topic for people to talk about then mad folks be calling & harassing the phone line. Before, I was talking about old school music now my age demographics is from 25 to 50 yrs old. In fact I gain a little of the older crowd since I interviewed the legendary hip hop soul group, The Force MD’s. However one thing that stayed the same is my catch phrase, ” TELL A FRIEND TO TELL A FRIEND THAT ITS ALL ABOUT THE MOTHERF*CKIN’ GRIND BASICALLY!!!

I’d like to say thanks to all my supporters/listeners, Thanks to the Gods Latiks & Knowledge for giving me a chance to re broadcast Grind Ethiks, thanks to all the guests who came by for a interview, thanks to my N*gga, rap artist Pessimist for co-hosting with me every month, thanks to My Queen Helen who helps me structure the show (www.gohelenmarie.com)

The Grind Ethiks Mixtape Show comes on every Thursday, 8-10pm US eastern time on www.dslradio.us hosted by “VIKTORY BX SUPREME PROMOTER”.

True Skool Radio

True Skool Radio
Hosted by: True Father Allah & DJ Sese
Blog Talk Radio

“We hijacking the airwaves and taking hip hop back!”

“TRUE SKOOL RADIO” carries on the traditional purpose of black radio in doing what Chuck D reminded us “Be aware and look out!” Advocating what Chuck D. also said in Hip Hop being utilized as the peoples CNN, “TRUE SKOOL RADIO” advocates independent media and education and is a grassroots expression of the community’s wants and desires on how to change our current state right now.

Based out of Arizona where immigration problems exist, ethnic studies have been removed out of classrooms, people are being asked to prove their citizenship in getting service at hospitals, buying cars or even going to school and problems with behavioural health and AHCCCS being cut (just to name a few things), the hosts True Father Allah and DJ Sese also share their wisdom on how to fight for freedom, justice and equality out here on the frontlines of what Cornel West described as ground zero for the new struggle for Civil Rights.

The hosts show and prove that hip hop culture is bigger than music. They both give credit to Hip Hop introducing them to more beneficial knowledge outside of the Eurocentric point of view that is imposed in the public school systems. This is what assisted them on their paths to enlightenment and knowledge of self and they are making it a point to let people know that NO! Hip Hop is NOT dead and can still be used as a tool for social change.

Over his 13 years of writing on all aspects dealing with the elements of hip hop culture True has written for local zines such as PUB, Powerlines as well as been avid in the online hip hop community doing freelance writing for sites such as Original Thought Magazine and Art of Rhyme. Over the years he has interviewed important ambassadors of the culture from the controversial Professor Griff (his very first interview) to AZ hip hop legend Roca Dolla, respected underground MC and activist Immortal Technique and many others.

While many local hip hop podcast shows have come into fruition over time, True co hosted one of the first in Black Sun Radio and maintains and moderates the True Skool forum on AZ hip hop’s number one website Arizonabeats.com which aims to use hip hop as a tool of information and awareness pioneers like Chuck D set forth for it to be when calling it the black CNN. True Skool also contains much hip hop trivia and history and honours many hip hop pioneers that paved the way to show appreciation and keep their legacy alive.
